The Southwest Fibre Co-op was formed in November 1999 to have a producer group come together to explore the expansion of ag related industry in their region of the province. It was thought that this formation would be a catalyst to analyze and develop a strategic plan for the enhancement of opportunities in all ag sectors. The Southwest Fibre Co-op is made up of directors from eleven (11) municipalities from Pembina in the east to Winchester in the west. The directors are elected for a one-year term at the annual general meeting by shareholders. The term "fibre" is in the name as a symbol of the tie that binds the region together. In other words the co-op is not limited to fibre opportunities. |
